General description :
Implanted near a ford on the Mountain stream of Pau, Assat is with its castle the first village of the plain of Nay to be mentioned, as early as in 980. It is as well in its extension that was set up by 1280 the ancient country-house of Durfort, "the first one of Béarn". Thus juxtaposed, the rectilinear town planning of the ancient country-house added to the sinuous plan of the former village give to Assat an unusual character. This discovery path is a proposal to discover the history of Assat from medieval time to our days.
