Parcours Patrimoine : de la bastide de Lestelle au pèlerinage de Bétharram

The municipality of Lestelle-Bétharram presents a double aspect: on the one side, Lestelle is an ancient fortified town established in 1335 by the viscount of Béarn on a way of transhumance and a way giving access to the nearby Bigorre. On the other side, Bétharram, several centuries before Lourdes , becomes the first big Pyrenean Marian pilgrimage. This heritage walk will lead you from a district to another, at the crossing of two particularly rich patrimonial universes with a common historic fate, prefiguring the development of Lourdes.
